Catharina Dilteyin (Hunter Lists #135)
Hans Jacob Dilthey, his wife, and 5 ch. are in the 6th party of Palantines in Holland in 1709 (Rotterdam Lists); they were surrounded on that list by emigrants from the Siegen-Westerwald region of Germany (i.E. Hans Willem Sneider, Bernhart Smit, Johan maul). The Dilthey family was prominent throughout that section, and the name was found at Hachenburg, Flammersfeld, Siegen and Runkel.

Catharina Dildeyin made her first appearance on the Hunter lists 4 Aug 1710 with 5 pers. over 10 yrs. of age and 1 pers. under 10; the entry for 4 Oct 1710 read 2 pers. over 10 urs. On 24 Jun 1711, the family had 6 pers. over 10 years of age, and the last entry 24 Dec 1711 noted 4 pers. over 10 yrs. in the household.

THE NEW YORK SUBSISTENCE LIST

Contributed by Kathryn Parker

This list was compiled from the "journal" of Palatine debtors to the British Government for subsistence given either in NYC or the Hudson River settlements from their landing in 1710 to September 1712. This list was found in the Public Record Office, C.O. 5/1230 and was corrected from the accompanying "ledger" C.O. 5/1231. Although 6 notations are given in the journal, only two are given here, 1710 and 1712. For example, the entry Abelman, Johann Peter 2-I, 2-0. The first set, 2-I signifies the number of adults is 2 and 1 child under 10 years of age in 1710, the second set, 2-0 signifies the number of adults was 2 and no children under 10 years of age in 1712. All children over 10 yrs were given the full allowance for an adult and were not distinguished from more mature members of the family. (No explanation is given when there is one set of numbers regarding the cause, death, flight, etc.) DILTEYIN, CATHARINA 5-1, 6-0; DINANT, PETER 2-2, 2-1
