Questionnaire responses from Ernest Lowell Dildine, given Christmas 2004.

1. My grandfather was the caretaker (sexton) of the El Carmelo Cemetery in Pacific Grove and was active there until 1944, when he was well into his 80s. We used to visit him there at his lunch time when we went to Pacific Grove. After eating his lunch he would lie on his back on nice days and look directly into the sun for a long period of time. He said that strengthened his eyes and he recommended that to me. I have since been told that was very harmful to our eyes. He enjoyed good sight until he passed away; I believe, either because of, or despite of his habit of looking into the sun. He was wiry, strong and active well into his later years and he enjoyed growing a third set of teeth in mid life.

2. My parents: Anna Elsa Auwarter and Ernest Roscoe Dildine

3. I married Genevieve Kellum at a parsonage in Reno, Nevada on February 24, 1946. We honeymooned in South Lake Tahoe.

4. My children:
Steven Michael Dildine
Donna Louise Hall
Susan Carol Zeni
David Lowell Dildine

My grandchildren:
Katharine Louise Hall
Amanda Susan Lubarski
Thomas Lowell Hall
Steven Longinotti Dildine
Amy Longinotti Dildine
Jennifer Elisabeth Zeni
Alison Victoria Zeni
Kevin David Dildine
Michael Kelleher Dildine
Nicholas Lowell Dildine

5. My occupation was always in the petroleum industry. At various times I was a petroleum engineer; a financial analyst; a trader in bulk crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids; an executive in an international company charged with providing facilities for - and petroleum supply for - aviation and marine fuels; president of a small entity providing technical and manpower assistance to our antitrust lawyers.

6. I have always enjoyed reading (principally history and biographies). I like working in a home woodshop. At this time I continue to pursue these activities, and I also play the banjo in a banjo band.
