Notes for Maria Dildine
lived in Neosho Co, Kansas
had six children
Notes for Ira (Spouse 1)
my husbands ggrandparents were ira and miriah sharp. they came from indianapolis, indiana in the late 1800's and settled around st. paul, kansas. they had children named effie, david, rebecca, alice, and some that died. my grandfather was david, he was born in indianapolis in 1859, so they moved to kansas sometime after this. david married mattie cox at erie, kans. (have a copymof marriage license) and he is my husbands grandfather. we have been looking for a long time, but cant seem to find much of anything on them. miriah's maiden name was dildine. effie and alice both married a gaston and rebecca married someone named stevenson and was thought to have moved to arkansas.

Was really surprised to find all this info on the dildines but sure am glad i did. Thanks a million, really appreciate any info . this maria (sometimes spelled mariah) was my husbands ggrandmother. we were in neosho county last summer and we found ralph and catherines graves, and there is some info on him at the courthouse but didn't know if he was her brother for sure. this town is called erie, dont know if it used to be galesburg or what, but we have lived around here all our life and have never heard it called anything but erie, kansas. the osage mission is still there and its a museum now (hope to go there next summer when its open and check it out). maria is buried somewhere north of parsons but we havent found her grave yet, and her husband ira sharp is suppose to be buried at joplin mo. the story is that ira was one his way to joplin to get a patent on somekind of mining machine he had invented and the creeks were flooded so he swam them and took pneumonia and died when he got to joplin, and the only ones who could attend the funeral were maria and her brother, guess they didnt have the money or way to transport anyone so they were buried wherever they died. ira and marias children were:
1.effie amelie sharp b.aug.13,1857 d.oct 27.1942 m.william gaston buried at crocker cemetery in pittsburg,kans.
2. david f. sharp b. feb.8,1859 d. feb 19,1934 m.martha e. cox also buried at pittsburg,kansas. (this is my husbands grandfather)
3. rebecca sharp d. may 28,1940 in arkansas m.john stevenson
4. alice sharp b. 1866 is suppose to be buried at the cemetery right at the edge of pittsburg, kans. m. sam gaston
5. alfretta sharp
6. almina sharp d.1906 in missouri thanks again for the info and keep in touch, will be glad to share any info i have.
