George Bolner deceased son of William Bolner, viz: his widow Susan Caroline Bolner, Her brother William F. Davis, and her nephews and nieces, towit: George H. Newbauer, Robert L. Okay, I have changed my records to show William Bollinger as William Bollinger/Bolner and all of his children born after 1850 as Bolner.  I think Roger is planning to do the same or something similar.  As my younger child used to say "you are not the boss of me" so he will have to make that decision even though I am his "authority" on this point as you say. 

I  am now interested in determining more about the pre-Indiana Bolner/Bollinger's .  It may be possible to help each other in some way.

Below are some notes that I have on David Bolner/Bollinger born 1766 in Virginia according to his headstone?  (Is that right?)  (CEMETERY; Blackford County Cemetery Index at Ft Wayne Library; David Bolner, Sr. cemetery Licking Township cemetery Sec 13 died 10 Mar 1850 age 84.)

1797-1826 on Hardy Co., Virginia tax rolls.  He was born 1776.

1810 Census in Frederick Co. Virginia; 3M<10; 1 25-45;2f<10; 1 26-45

1820 Census in Winchester; Frederick Co. VA; 1m 10-16;3 18-26; 1+45;  2F<10;
1f 10-16; no adult female; 4 engaged in agriculture

1830 Census in Licking Co., Ohio

Comment:  Hardy County, Virginia, later became Hardy County, West VA and David Bolner/Bollinger was listed in every year from 1797-1826.  He then disappears but shows up in Licking County, Ohio, in the 1830 census.  In fact his children marry in Licking County, Ohio, the first being Anna Elinor to a Hiser on 10 August 1827.  So he disappears from the Hardy County, Va tax rolls in 1826 and the first child is married in Licking County, Ohio in August 1827. 

I list Josiah as born in Shenandoah County, Virginia.  I also have the census records from Winchester, (Frederick County) Va and another in Frederick County Virginia.  Shenandoah was formed from Frederick County but in 1772 so they are adjacent and often I look in both counties for records.  I have multiple ancestors that pass through these counties. 

I looked on Ancestery.com and did not find any Bolner's in the census, but there are of course other record sources.  I will look at LDS perhaps tonight.  Unfortunately, I am still working for a living.

I already had David Bolner b.1766. but I think his real name was Bollinger married   This may have been where the name change came in.
       I also have problems with William Bolinger because by law his name became William Bolner.
 
       In the will in probate Keggeries is spelled Kegerreis which does make more sense to me.
 
       I also believe William Bollinger was William Bolner with the name change occuring here born 1803 in Virginia  Death Dec 29, 1964  Mar abt 1834  to Elizabeth Sunderland.
 
      I am not clear why the name was changed but I believe it was here.
 
      I also had problems with Mary Margaret Gaunt Born in Rappahannock Co. Vir and could not figure out where she came in. So this is explained.
 
     So I will go with David Bollinger born 1776 as the father of William Bolner Born 1803 and I do have his entire line. with the name change occuring here until some one proves me wrong.
