Can anyone give us directions to the Pace's Paines historical marker???? From Williamsburg, take VA Highway 31 to Jamestown. The road will take you to the ferry (there is no charge). This will take you across the river to Surry in Surry County. Pass through Surry and as you come out of the town watch for VA Highway 10 on your right. Follow VA Highway 10 West for about 6 or 7 miles. The marker is on the right at the intersection of a county road that does not show on my map. I believe there are 2 markers but this is the only one I could find on my own.

While on the ferry keep a watch on the right as you first cross the river and you can see the statue of John Smith on James Island. The entrance to the ferry is adjacent to the Old Jamestown recreation. I would definitely recommend a visit to the Old Jamestown recreation as well as a visit to the original site of Jamestown on James Island.

If you could delay you trip to Williamsburg until June 15-18 you could attend the Annual Reunion of The Pace Society of America. Then you could take a guided tour of the many Pace sites of interest.
