Will of Clark Lowry, 21 Feb 1774, Oxford of Sussex Co, NJ. Wife,
Mary Lowry, to have the rent of the land that was left to her by her
father, Joseph McMurtrey. Son, Joseph, a horse. My brothers, John
and Mathew, and myself have been in partnership, and my part, along
with the rest of estate to be given to my wife, Mary, son, Joseph,
daughters, Jane Lowry, Nanny Lowry, Elizabeth Lowry, Martha Lowry
when children are of age. Exec. John and Mathew, my bothers. Wit.
John McKown, Richard Shackleton, Joseph Lowry. Proved 14 Apr
1774.

The daughter Jane Lowry married John Haynes before 1799, apparently
in Northumberland Co. PA. I don't know how or when she got to
Northumberland Co. PA but a conveyance made in 1799 states John
Haines is husband of Jane Lowry, daughter of Clark Lowry, deceased
of Sussex Co. NJ. Two of her sisters were also married and in
Northumberland Co.- Martha Lowry married Israel Biddle, Agnes
Lowry married Daniel Dildine.

Jane Lowry Haynes lived until after the 1850 census when she was
listed in Madison Twp, Montour County, PA at age 87. She had been a
widow for 20 years.

Does anyone know this Lowry Family? I'd like to know when Jane died
and more about her children. She had a son named Clark Haynes born
1804.

Maybe this will help someone or be of interest. I received this several years ago from a researcher because I was working on the LOWRY & HAYNES families of Northumberland Co. PA. Martha Lowry, wife of Israel Biddle was born in 1773, probably the last child of Clarke and Mary (McMurtrey) Lowry, and died in Derry Township on April 23, 1836 at the age of 63. Israel Biddle, her husband, died January 25, 1817, at the age of 49. Martha and Israel had one daughter (who married CLARK DILDINE) and five sons; Joseph, Abraham, Clark, Israel Jr., and Gershom.

Agnes Lowry, a sister of Martha (above) married DANIEL DILDINE. There is a document executed in Derry Township, Northumberland County, PA dated 6 April 1799 between the heirs of Clarke Lowry, deceased of Sussex County New Jersey. The document was designed to give Philip Moury in New Jersey the authority to act as Agent in the estate. Those signing were:
John Haines & Jane, wife
Daniel Dildine & Agnes, wife
Israel Biddle & Martha, wife

Daniel Dildine Jr. Jacob Dildine and John Haynes were subscribers between 1793 and 1800 of the Christ Church (Episcopal) which was built on the road from Jerseytown to Millville. It came into the township of Madison after the erection of Columbia County in 1813. By 1829 the old church was torn down and in 1914 the road changed and the site of the old church and weed filled cemetery was on a near-by farm.
