I think everyone has the Graye confused. I found the will of Thomas
Proctor in London, England naming his BROTHER John Proctor of the
Virginia colony in America, and his UNCLE William Graye and his wife
Mary.

That means that Thomas and John were SONS of Joshua Proctor and a ?
Graye. Anyone who wants to verify it can check the Shipp index for
Virginia periodicals. I believe it's in volume 8 or 9 of the Virginia
Genealogy Magazine.

If what I'm hearing is correct the true story might be more like:

Joshua Proctor and ? Graye (Sister of William Graye of London, England)
sons:

1) Thomas (died in London and buried in Allhallowes, London, England in
1624.) Married to Jane Squier (dau of William) and they had a son Samuel
b. abt 1595 Never came to America, that I'm aware of.

2) John - emigrated to America in 1607 on the Seadventure, land in
Jamestown, VA according to the ships passenger list. Married to Alice
?, had a son William (Named in the court records as a witness, age 16 in
1624 when the case about causing the death of his slave was
prosecuted.) He died bef. 25 Jun 1627 when his wife presented the
inventory of his estate to the court.

3) Ambrose - settled in Pace's Paines, VA in about 1620. Isle of Wight
area ca 1632 (I have land records for him in IOW)

4) Anthony - settled in Pace's Paines, VA in about 1620. Settled in
Upper Norfolk County. (I have land records for him in Upper Norfolk)

5) Joshua - ?

Anyway, just wanted to point out that the Graye part is incorrect.
