‘All children gather to honor parents on 50th Anniversary
All living children of Mr. amd Mrs. Virgil E. Burnett, 2902 North Fir, were present Saturday to participate in the golden wedding anniversary of their parents, the first time for several years all have been together.
The couple was married in Parson, Kan., Dec. 31, 1899.
A new Year’s dinner was given in their honor, followed by a reception in the evening. Cake and coffee were served at the reception, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cooper, 2908 Maple.
Friends of the family, Mr. and Mrs Jack Eckstein, Elgin, were guests at the reception. Flowers were received from them, and from Mr. amd Mrs. Curtis Lindsey, Pendelton. Gifts were received by the couple.
Children and their families present were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur D. Burnett, Klamath Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd M. Burnett, La Grande; Mr. and Mrs. Orval V. Burnett, La Grande; Mr and Mrs. Henry W. Carper, Enterprise; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon W. Burnett, Pendleton; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest R. Burnett, Lewiston, Ida.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Nelson and son, Mark Jay, Lebannon, also were present. Mrs. Nelson is the eldest granddaughter of the couple. Mark Jay is the only great-grandchild. There were 11 grand-children at the reception.’
