hi everyone,
Just passing along a little info I found. David B. Proctor, b. 1802 VA, son of James. went to Indiana circa 1850s. my hunch is he saw war coming and got out. his oldest son, John Churchill went too, and went on to Iowa, and one of his sons ended up in Spokane County WA.

Mary Carson Proctor, b 1804 Pulaski Co. KY died July 1892 and is buried at Elmwood Cem. Mt. Vernon. Tombstone reads Mary Proctor
"Aunt Pop"

And although I haven't found the link between James and George Proctor, I did find out more about George (the rev war vet b. 1742
Caroline Co. VA)
His father was the William P. of Spotsylvania (will, 1753) and maybe you've already read that about his mother being a Bryant with Powhatan Indian grandma or gr grandma.
As for Lee Proctor's recollections about the Proctors being from Griffin, NY, there was/is such a place in Hamilton Co. but I couldn't find much info from the web page.
did find a william proctor on a land grant, circa 1760, I think, so that possibility remains.
So, that's all for now. Going to Alberta Canada in July to see the Calgary Stampede.
Janie,
