Greiner, Jacob, bornMarch 13, 1826, in Germany where he lived
until he came to the United States and settled in New York. He re-
mained there until he came to California, via Panama in 1853, and
located in Yolo County. He is a farmer, owns 565 acres of good
land, all of which is inclosed, and nearly all under cultivation.
He married Caroline Weimer Heinz in 1869, at Woodland, and their
children are Charley Heinz, sixteen; Theodore Heinz, thirteen;
O.A. Greiner nine; Michael, four. His Post Office address is
Plainfield.

JACOB GREINER was born in Wurtemberg, Germany, March 13, 1826, his parents being Jacob and Mary (Stoep) Greiner, both natives of Germany, where the father engaged in farm- ing until his death. In 1852 Jacob Greiner came to the United States. first locating in New York state, where he remained until the following year, then came west to California by way of the Isthmus of Panama. His first location was at San Francisco, where he worked on a farm for a time, then removed to Yolo county and entered the employ of Michael Bemmerly, upon whose farm he remained for eighteen years. Bv this time he was able to purchase one hundred and sixty acres at Plainfield, near -Woodland, improv- ing the same and building a pleasant house and substantial barns. From time to time he has added to the property until he and his wife now have five hundred and sixty-five acres of fine grain land in that section, also one hundred and sixty acres of grain land in another tract. In addi- tion to the property in Yolo county they own six hundred and forty acres of fine grain land near Dixon, Solano county. Mr. and Mrs. Greiner formerly lived at Plainfield, but of late years they have made their home in Woodland. In Woodland, December 26, 1869, Mr. Greiner married Caroline (Wimmer) Heinz, born in. Germany, the sister of Mrs. John Wohlfrom and the daughter of Michael Wimmer. Mrs. Greiner, in company with the sister befote mentioned, came to the United States to see another sister, Mrs. John Bemmerly of Yolo county. Her first mar- riage was to Lorenz Heintz, a native of Wurtemberg, Germany, and of this union were born two sons: Charles. a merchant in Sacramento, and Theodore, a farmer in Solano county. For a sec- ond husband she married Jacob Greiner, and they became the parents of two children: Otto, now managing the Solano county ranch, and Michael, who died in 1904 at the age of 24 yrs Mr. and Mrs. Greiner aare members of the Catholic Church. Politically Mr. Greiner adheres to the principles advocataed in the platform of the Republican party and is a worthy citizen
