The following is a short segment I copied out of a small booklet I put together for my family. The search back to Ananias born in 1742 and died in Ohio 1825 is documented. From there back through George, William, Ananias and John it's been documented by others. My question is can we make the link to another John born in 1623, than John
Ananias' and Ephriam John? And where is Dorchestshire, England? I do find a Worchestshire County.

Ananias Allen was the result of my latest search. He
was the Allen that stopped me twenty years ago - the
one I could not connect as David Allen’s father.
Recently I have, and found he was a Captain in the
Revolutionary War and that his grave was in Fayette
County, Bloomingburg Cemetery, Ohio. My hunch was
getting stronger - he had moved with the family to
Ohio. The connection occurred when I found in Volume
119, page 53 of the Daughters of the American
Revolution (DAR) index names of members, the link to
Ananias through David’s daughter Rachel Allen. She
was born in 1812, sister to James S, connecting
Rachel’s granddaughter directly to Ananias through her
daughter, herself, David and to Ananias. Rachel had
married George Custer. He could be related, both
being from Ohio, but he is not the infamous Custer of
“last stand” fame.

Ananias Allen was born in Sussex County, New Jersey on
January 4, 1742. He was a Captain in the 2nd Sussex
County Regiment during the Revolutionary War. Ananias
married Rachael Harker in 1772. He died in Ohio on
October 2, 1825. I have documentation on a pedigree
line to his birth. I can go beyond Ananias with
historical articles, and I’m sure of the accuracy, but
without the documentation. One thing that helps, the
relatives all show up in the 1810 North Sewickley, Beaver County, Pennsylvania census. They use the same
first names through each of the generations; Ananias
and George. If one brother misses an Ananias, another
one has named his son Ananias. I took them from
Pennsylvania and found them together in New Jersey at
an earlier date.

Our Ananias is listed next to his brother George in
the Pennsylvania Census. Through land contracts,
wills and historical writings, I am certain I have
them linked in New Jersey. Both were sons of George
Allen Senior. George Sr. was born about 1720 and died
in 1811 Sussex County, now Warren County. He settled
in Sussex and mortgaged six hundred and twenty-five
acres in 1760. He had five other children mentioned
in his will, besides Ananias and George Jr.

*George Sr. was the son of William Allen, born in 1694
and laid to rest in 1756, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. William was a private in the local militia in
1715. Not much is know of him except his will and a
few law suits. One historical article said he was,
‘somewhat of a rover’, which would translate today as
one who does not own property; a tradesman. William
also had one son Ananias, who died young and one
brother named Ananias, neither of which figure in this
search, but his father does and his name was Ananias.

Ananias Allen was born about 1665. It is thought that
he was English, a tradesman living in a settlement of
predominantly Dutch. One of the problems with his
history is that the records are from the Dutch
Reformed Church of Raritan, now Somerville and the
english spelling of names was very much muddied by
record keepers who are Dutch and who wrote and spelled
like it. Ananias was a Sergeant in Captain Peter
Demont’s company militia, along with his son William,
a private. His father John, and he was
born in Somerset, NJ in 1643 and was married in 1664 to Francynyje Alburtus.
